2007 Caribbean Summer BallThis years Summer Ball is host to 400 guests in aid of the URGENT need to raise £300,000 for a vital DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY X-RAY MACHINE at Eastbourne District General Hospital to aid the early and accurate diagnosis of BREAST CANCER in MEN AND WOMEN. Cancer affects one in two of us. Eastbourne Hospital must have the TOOLS TO DO THE JOB. The DGH is always there for us all. This is your opportunity to help.

How it all started...The Rotary Club of Eastbourne and Friends of Eastbourne Hospitals are arranging a wonderful Summer Ball to raise vitally needed funds towards the provision of a digital mammography x-ray machine at the Eastbourne District General Hospital Radiology department; also for the refurbishment of the area to give greater privacy for ladies waiting for their examinations and to create a better environment at a time of great stress. The equipment will enable better and earlier detection of breast cancer – being digital will enable clinicians to view results within the DGH replacing traditional x-rays. The total cost is £250,000; the majority of monies raised will go towards this most worthy cause; the remainder will go to local Eastbourne charities. The Rotary Club always has a list of deserving local causes. |
Dancing will be to the Eddy Brian Big Band; there will be a superior hog roast with all the trimmings and a bar. Cancer seems to affect one person in two. We all know someone who has received or is receiving wonderful treatment at the DGH. We all take their excellent work for granted; they are always there for us, and we all owe the DGH a great debt of gratitude. They need the latest IT equipment to do the job; hence our total commitment to make our Ball a great success.
